The Future

Are You the Missing Link?
Part 5: The Future

The well-being of every individual gets its start from a strong and loving family. This is the way God designed the system to work. A family has the job of helping to promote and secure that the next generation is emotionally healthy, responsible, compassionate, and intelligent. Most importantly, a family is directly accountable to God for instilling principles of Godliness into the next generation so that it is preserved in the example of Jesus Christ. Heavenly Father instructed His people living in Old Testament times through His chosen leader and servant, Moses. In Deuteronomy 7:9(NLT), Moses told them, “Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.” Children who learn Godly principles through the modeling and instruction of loving parents that honor God will grow up to be adults who honor and love God themselves. This is God’s goal for every family.

Although this is God’s goal and desire, we know that every family doesn’t operate this way. In fact, most families in our world do not aspire to follow God’s Word. Many of us that are believers living during this time are witnessing the fallout from this. There is confusion and chaos everywhere. The things that God loves, society condemns, and the things that don’t please Him, society loves. This isn’t a surprise to Heavenly Father, and the reality of what we are seeing today doesn’t alter His Will and Plan one bit. His Will goes forward, and His Word will accomplish the thing that God intends.

We have seen by the extraordinary example of Jesus Christ, that one person can change the course of the world. God’s spirit was working in Jesus Christ as he walked the face of the earth and showed us the heart of our Father. The good news is that Romans 8:11declares that this same Spirit, the Holy Spirit, is working in us. God’s Word tells us in 1John 4:4(NLT), “But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.” In comparison to the world’s population, there is just a small percentage of individuals that love God and walk in His Spirit, but He has proven numerous times throughout His Word that He doesn’t need great numbers. He needs men and women whose hearts are humbled towards Him and will seek Him first in all things. He’s the One that does the heavy lifting, and it should be our esteemed and great honor to avail ourselves to Him so that His love and power can work through us.

Many of us don’t see ourselves as conduits of His love and the mighty working of His power, but that is exactly what we are. God has great plans for the future, and He is preparing us for a work and legacy that will come through us, and this work and legacy will never end. We didn’t begin it and we can’t end it. It’s God’s purpose, and our responsibility and privilege is to say “YES!” to God’s Will.

1John 1:8(NLT) says, “If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.” There’s some stuff that’s operating in us that keeps us from moving in faith the way we could and should. It’s there, lurking beneath the surface of our consciousness, and we may not be able to readily identify it or pinpoint exactly what it is, but there are emotions and feelings connected to it. In truth, it is the enslavement of sin. It’s the place within that the love of God has not yet penetrated because we have not been able to call a spade a spade. It did not begin with us, but it can end with us, and this is the assignment we have overlooked until now.

Our God is a covenant God. He honors His promises and covenant to His people, and He does so for an eternity. Our responsibility is to preserve His ways and do all we can to inspire obedience and honor in our families. So often, we set about trying to change the world and do great things, but we try to do this outside the parameters of God’s Will and Plan. This will not achieve the results we expect or desire. It is only in Christ that we live, move, and have our being. We must operate within Christ.

We have been strategically positioned by God, and we were born into the family He has chosen for us. We can be sure that there is something He has called us to do and achieve within the particular bloodline of our biological heritage. Be assured that there is a connection between the past, present, and future. This connection can bring unity in such a way that even those in our bloodline that are no longer within the earth or those that have not yet come to the earth can be set free. If you are reading this, God can move through you to accomplish His Plan for your bloodline. You are monumentally blessed in the present if you will do this work according to the Plan and Will of God. If we will change course in our prayer lives and fuel them with increased faith regarding our identity, purpose, and authority in Christ, we can change the course of future generations.
